- Make sure fireworks are legal in the state your in before purchasing or using them.
- Always have a professional handle fireworks. Never let kids use fire works even just sparklers.
- If you do set off fireworks keep a hose or water close by.
- If you have a dud firework, do not try to re-use it! Soak it with water and throw it away.
- Never ignite fireworks in a container, especially one that is glass or metal.
- Move your grill away from your house, deck, and from underneath any trees.
- Make sure to open your gas grill cover before lighting it.
- Clean off the grease build up on your grill and catch tray before using it to prevent it from catching on fire.
- Ensure kids do not play near the grill or fire pit.
- Don’t wear loose or baggy clothing around fireworks, grill or fire pit.
When you think of the 4th of July, fire works and a barbecue always comes to mind. If you are not going to a professional show and plan to set them off yourself, do so understanding that they are INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. In 2016 alone 4 people died, there were over 11,000 injuries (16% were caused by sparklers and 30% involving children) and 18,000 fires caused by fireworks. If you live in Massachusetts, understand that fireworks are illegal.
